"We" is me... Don Harrington.
My journey in distribution began in the warehouse at a fourth-generation family-owned electrical wholesaler in Portland, ME, when sales and purchase orders were hand-written on four-part forms. I spent a few years learning the business -- counter sales, purchasing, accounting, outside sales, management. When it came time to "computerize" and implement Trend -- the ERP that was the forebear to Infor's SX.enterprise and CloudSuite Distribution -- I was tapped to lead the project. Largely because I was the first salesperson to use Harvard Graphics during a presentation, and by then had learned how distributors actually make money...
I moved into IT and Operations, and helped our organization grow into the future: Introducing email. Upgrading the ERP countless times. Replacing green-screens with networked PCs. Installing PBX's and then VOIP. Connecting to the internet. Establishing a website. Implementing e-commerce. Moving to a central distribution model with warehouse management. Adding CRM into the mix. Integrating the systems, normalizing the data and re-engineering the business processes of three disparate companies during a merger. Modifying software and processes to accommodate non-traditional business opportunities. Integrating acquisitions. Leading digital transformation efforts and layering in product management information, marketing automation, SEO, personalization and localization. Migrating to the cloud.
I developed a passion and a reputation for thinking creatively and for motivating people to make positive change. For connecting them with the business and with the tools at their disposal to satisfy customers, amaze suppliers, and please stakeholders.
That's what "we" do.
